Court fees are only one part of the cost of litigation. Expert fees, translation, expert-report fees, service costs, appeal and cassation fees, and legal representation are all additional, and certain categories of case are exempt or charged differently. Fee schedules are also amended from time to time. Before making a decision based on cost, get a proper assessment.

How Dubai court fees
are set.
Based on Dubai Law No. 21 of 2015 concerning judicial fees, as amended by Law No. 2 of 2019.
6% of the claim
Six per cent of the value of the claim, never less than AED 500, and capped at AED 20,000, AED 30,000 or AED 40,000 depending on the claim band.
Three bands
Up to AED 500,000 the cap is AED 20,000. Between AED 500,001 and AED 1,000,000 it is AED 30,000. Above AED 1,000,000 it is AED 40,000.
5%, capped at 20,000
Labour claims above AED 100,000 are charged at 5% of the claim, capped at AED 20,000. Lower-value labour claims are generally exempt.
2% of the amount
Enforcing a judgment attracts 2% of the amount due, with a floor of AED 200 and a ceiling of AED 5,000.
Split in two stages
For commercial claims up to AED 500,000 the fee is collected in two stages — part from the claimant on filing, the balance from the judgment debtor after the award.
Some cases pay nothing
Government claims, alimony appeals, social-aid applications and certain charitable matters are exempt from judicial fees.

What litigation actually costs before the Dubai Courts.
How much are court fees in Dubai?
For civil and commercial claims before the Court of First Instance the fee is 6% of the claim value, with a minimum of AED 500 and a maximum of AED 20,000 for claims up to AED 500,000, AED 30,000 between AED 500,001 and AED 1,000,000, and AED 40,000 above AED 1,000,000.
Why does a larger claim sometimes cost the same?
Because the fee is capped. Once your claim passes AED 1,000,000 the filing fee stops rising and stays at AED 40,000, so a claim of AED 1.1 million and one of AED 10 million attract the same court fee.
Are labour cases charged court fees?
Labour claims above AED 100,000 are charged 5% of the claim value, capped at AED 20,000. Lower-value labour claims are generally exempt from filing fees.
What does it cost to enforce a judgment?
Execution proceedings attract 2% of the amount due, subject to a minimum of AED 200 and a maximum of AED 5,000.
